Position Overview:

The Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) will support the daily operations of the childcare center, with a primary focus on kitchen duties, food preparation, cleaning and maintenance, while also assisting in the classrooms under the supervision of the Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs).

Key Responsibilities:

Kitchen & Centre Maintenance Duties:

Prepare and serve snacks and meals according to the center's menu and nutrition policies. Ensure all food is handled and stored safely, following Public Health regulations. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, dining area and food storage areas. Wash dishes, sanitize kitchen equipment and manage food inventory. Clean and sanitize high-touch areas and common spaces daily. Handle laundry duties including washing and folding classroom linens. Assist in the general upkeep of the center including garbage disposal, cleaning, and organization.

Classroom Support Duties:

Assist RECEs in the supervision, care, and safety of children. Help implement planned activities and routines. Engage with children during play, snack time, and transitions. Support in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment. Provide gentle and nurturing care aligned with the center's philosophy.

Qualifications:

Valid Food Handler Certificate (required). Early Childhood Assistant Certificate or experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting is an asset. CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Vulnerable Sector Check (required before start date). Ability to multitask, follow direction, and work collaboratively with team members. Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 40 per week
