We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and experience working with children, including those with disabilities. Position Summary:
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable
Early Childhood Assistant (ECA)
to support the implementation of daily programming and ensure the well-being and safety of children in our care.
Responsibilities:
Child Supervision and Engagement
Support the supervision and active engagement of children in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Program Planning and Curriculum Support
Collaborate with RECEs in preparing and setting up play-based learning experiences that align with children's interests and developmental needs.
Contribute ideas and observations for weekly and emergent curriculum planning.
Assist in documenting children's learning through photos, anecdotal notes, and portfolio work.
Help maintain learning environments that are inviting, organized, and reflective of the children's interests and cultural backgrounds.
Health, Safety, and Nutrition
Ensure the environment meets health and safety regulations as outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)and centre policies.
Participate in daily cleaning and sanitation routines of toys, surfaces, and materials.
Assist with food preparation and serving meals/snacks in accordance with Canada's Food Guide and allergy/health needs.
Family and Team Collaboration
Greet families and children warmly at arrival and departure.
Foster respectful, supportive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and team-building activities as required.
Interact with children using positive language and responsive, respectful strategies that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Assist with diapering, toileting, dressing, and hygiene routines following centre policies and respectful care practices.
Qualifications:
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
Up-to-date immunizations, including TB test (new one to be obtained)
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or willingness to obtain one. (must be within 6 months or new one must be completed upon hire)
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Passion for working with young children.
