Early Childcare Assistant (Care for Newcomer Children Staff)

Early Childcare Assistant

to join our team in

a contract full-time role

until

March 31, 2026.



You will succeed in this role if you have a two-year diploma in

Early Childhood Education

or Child development program,

a 2-year of experience working with children 9 months up to school age

, and meet the valid

Child Care Immunization Requirement

including First Aid and CPR certificates. You are an effective communicator in English. If you can speak a second language, it would be an asset. You are able to work as part of a team of childcare professionals, and you are able to use all MS Office applications. You will report to the Manager, Language and Skills Development, and you will be taking care of children while their parents are in class. You will ensure the safety of children in the care, and you will maintain, clean, and disinfects children's toys, furniture and shelving areas.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



Ensures the safety of children in the care of CNC. Prepares and maintains the program area (e.g. creative arts centre, cognitive area, dramatic play area). Keeps attendance accurate. Participate in the fire drills and other health and safety procedures as required. Maintains, cleans and disinfects children's toys, furniture and shelving area. Maintains the cleanliness and hygiene of CNC spaces. Be responsive to diverse cultural heritages, values and individual experiences. Work with the CNC Lead Staff to provide a play based learning activities for children of all ages. Prepare children snacks based on Canada's Food Guide and participate in the set up and clean up. Support TNO outreach activities Jointly with service partners, conducts program promotion in community social landmarks Supports outreach activities with other TNO departments and services Actively participates in program's community development activities including advocacy, outreach and community engagement and empowerment activities Participates in and supports local community events

Vaccination Requirement

- You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to any valid medical or religious exemption from vaccination as provided by the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Screening

- As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Job Type:

Full-time contract position until March 31, 2026

Layoff Period

: Summer Break, March Break and Winter Break when classes are not in session

Location

: 45 Overlea Blvd Toronto, ON M4H 1C3

Schedule

: 8:30 - 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
