Reporting to the Branch Manager, this role is responsible to operate a company vehicle to deliver/pick-up products for customers, branches and suppliers in a professional, timely and safe manner. Being a Delivery Driver for Desco means you are often the final connection between the Company and our valued customers. Responsibilities:
Perform the delivery and pick up of product for customers, branches and suppliers; ensure proper documentation and signatures.
Complete all necessary delivery and control documents (i.e. Driver Log Book, Delivery Run Sheets, etc.) according to established procedures, remitting as required.
Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks for deliveries, as well as the offloading of material directly to the properly assigned areas in the warehouse. Offload material directly to the proper assigned areas.
Notify Branch Manager in advance of any delays with time-calls.
Be first contact for issues with regards to deliveries while, maintaining professional code of conduct at the customer and Branch locations.
Adhere to all Ministry of Transportation requirements, as well as the Fleet Safety Guidelines of the Company.
Complete daily circle-check inspections of vehicle and any required inspection documentation, remitting as required.
Ensure product is safely secured inside the truck prior to vehicle movement and during transport.
Maintains clean and orderly cab and box; ensures security of product and vehicle at all times.
Submit run sheets on a daily basis with all required information completed.
Report maintenance/repair issues of truck to Branch Manager in a timely manner.
Report incidents/accidents immediately to Branch Manager.
Provide feedback to Manager on process improvement opportunities. Reports job site progress and new development to Manager.
Assist in warehouse or branch duties as required.
What You Offer:
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Delivery Driver
Valid DZ Driver's License
Clean Driver's Abstract/CVOR
Previous experience manually offloading customer product orders at delivery locations is an asset
Previous warehouse experience, an asset
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Familiar with roads across Ontario
A strong safety and compliance mindset
Ability to perform physically demanding work
Strong communication and problem-solving skills; with a customer service orientation
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with demonstrated experience providing superior customer service
