We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Independent Contractors (Personal Support Workers, Child and Youth Workers, Developmental Support Workers, and Mental Addition and Community Service Workers) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential assistance to individuals in need, including those with disabilities, seniors, and patients requiring specialized care. This role involves supporting children, youths, adults and families in their daily living activities, ensuring a safe environment, and promoting the well-being of clients through personal care and companionship in their homes, schools, hospitals and community settings.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized support and mentorship to clients of all ages with disabilities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Assist with life skills coaching including hygiene, meal preparation, budgeting, and social development.
Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
Support clients during community outings, schools reintegration, and recreational activities.
Maintain a clean and safe environment in home care or assisted living settings.
Respite care for families and caregivers.
Document client progress and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals as needed.
Implement behavioural intervention programs which may include crisis prevention and conflict resolution.
Adhere to all agency policies, safety protocols, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, developmental and physical disabilities, dual diagnosis, mental health and behavioural issues.
University Degree or College Diploma in PSW, DSW, ACSW or in a relevant field.
Valid First AID and CPR certifications
Current crisis intervention training (CPI, Safe Management, UMAB or equivalent)
Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
Valid drivers license, car insurance and access to a reliable vehicle with ability to commute within your surrounding area and cities within Ontario.
Compassionate attitude towards working with individuals with disabilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
