How We Do It
Sistering operates on a trauma-informed and relationship-based model and our harm reduction philosophy is a core element of all the work we do: we are here to respond to participants' needs, where they are at, in the moment, to support participants to learn how to reduce harm and/or increase safety. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Drop-In Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day functions of the 24/7 drop-in. The Drop-In Coordinator will provide support and coordination to a team comprised of community support workers, peer harm reduction workers and other partner service provides which ensure the effective delivery of service from a client-centered, trauma informed, harm reduction, anti-oppressive perspective.
In addition to the Drop-In Coordinator responsibilities, this position will provide front-line service provision. This work includes a mix of meeting practical needs and supports and counselling services. The Drop-In Coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Programs and Services and the Program Manager to build a strong and responsive network of external service providers who support the programming externally and internally at Sistering. The primary location of the work will be in the drop-in space. The successful candidate will bring a commitment to advocacy and social justice issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision:
Develop strong collaboration with Director, Manager, other Drop-In Coordinators , Harm Reduction Coordinator, Community Support Workers and Food Access Program Supervisor
Develops strong collaborative relationships within and among day/evening/overnight teams/shifts, harm reduction, kitchen, clinic, data governance, and office management
Oversee data collection and recording, and ensure that day to day information is adequately recorded and communicated, facilitate daily log, meetings notes, and ensure appropriate follow up is implemented
Coordinates the schedule, communications, and data collection for Drop-In workers and peer workers
Supports appropriate crisis intervention, informal counseling, information and referral and facilitates shift and team discussions as needed
Provide debrief and skill building opportunities after critical incident with Drop-in shift/team
Provide/organize practical support to women which may involve assisting with meal preparation, donations and facilitating the use of shower and laundry facilities
Support management in the supervision of peers, volunteers, and placement students
Ensure the recruitment and training of all new staff in consultation with the Director
Provide coordination of team development needs and opportunities/initiatives
Develop systems and ensure that Drop-in space is well maintained and organized
Administration:
Collaborate with Director and Manager in the development of operational policy, guidelines and tools for the effective operations of the drop-in
Schedule relief staff as necessary
Ensure the purchase and maintenance of program equipment and supplies
Support the Director and Manager in the development and monitoring of the drop-in budget
Manage the petty cash for the team/shift
Ensure log, service restrictions and other tools are developed and maintained to ensure smooth communication across shifts
Develop tools and support communication across shifts/teams and between programs
Ensure the maintenance of program statistics and assist in the development and implementation of appropriate program evaluation tools that are consistently kept across the shifts
In conjunction with the Director, Manager, and other Drop-in Coordinators, monitor and ensure the continued development of program policy and procedures
Participate in staff meetings and agency committees
Advocacy and Community Building:
In partnership with service users, Director, Manager, and other Coordinators and Supervisors and staff, a strategic advocacy plan for Sistering participants
Develop and engage in advocacy in order to address systemic issues of homelessness and poverty. Develop advocacy initiatives that best address participants' needs and partner with the other staff
In partnership with other staff, build internal capacity by supporting staff to develop a critical analysis of social conditions and engage in advocacy accordingly
In Partnership with Director, Manager, and other Coordinators and Supervisors, develop and maintain strong working relationships with other internal services and programs of Sistering
In Partnership with Director, Manager, and other Coordinators and Supervisors, keep up to date on services and resources available as well as develop and maintain strong working relationships with community stakeholders
Other Duties as Assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Human Services, Social Work, and relevant experience
Experience working in services for individuals with complex needs (e.g., homelessness, addiction, mental health, trauma)
Strong commitment to harm reduction, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive practices
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and conflict resolution
Proficiency with standard office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office)
Knowledge of community resources and client support networks
Experience with client documentation, data collection, and basic admin tasks
Experience working in a Drop-In or 24/7 service setting
COMPENSATION:
$57,000 - $62,000 annually

This position works in the office and community. Sistering is a 24/7 operation, fast paced, intense environment.
