Job Description

Are you looking for a job this Holiday Season that is personally rewarding by making an impact on the lives of people in our community? The Brantford Food Bank is looking for an additional driver to help pick up food donations and support work in our warehouse.

The Contracted Driver/Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for assisting with daily pick up of food donations from grocery stores, local corporate donors, and food drives. Loading and off loading of large volumes of food and grocery products, movement of pallets of grocery products and general warehouse work are required on a daily basis.

The successful candidate should be comfortable with daily physical work, heavy lifting, driving, and warehouse work.

The primary responsibilities of this position are:



Driver responsibilities:

Assist with the daily/weekly pick-ups of food donations as scheduled with community donors. Loading, lifting, sorting, transporting and unloading of large quantities of donated food and grocery product. Build a strong rapport with local donors and provide excellent customer service. Weighing and recording of all donations. Deliver/retrieve food donation bins to third party events as requested. Report maintenance needs on vehicles and equipment as required. Receiving food and grocery donation deliveries as required. Provide deliveries of food as required and directed. Provide coverage/support to food bank staff as needed. Maintain positive professional communication donors, volunteers and team members.

Warehouse responsibilities:

Lifting, sorting and unloading of donated product. Receive, check and sign for scheduled deliveries. Receive and store all new deliveries in an organized and safe manner. Ensure proper food handling and storage of all food and grocery items as required. Ensure refrigeration and freezer units are working properly. Assist with monthly food provider pick-ups. Transfer of product to Food Bank from warehouses on a regular basis to meet emergency food needs. Build and maintain skids for transfer of product from one warehouse to another as required. Maintain a safe, clean, organized warehouse at all times. Ensure the security, health and safety of all areas.

Data Management:

Ensure consistent weight recording of incoming donations and purchased products. Ensure records of all donations received and distributed through Food Bank Warehouse. Pick up and recording of Gift in Kind Donations. Provide weekly and monthly reports as required.

Qualifications



Grade 12 or equivalency

Able to lift heavy objects (50 lbs) regularly.

Mechanically inclined.

Excellent organizational, written and communication skills.

Experience in a food service or warehouse setting is an asset.

Ability to work well with minimal supervision.

Good interpersonal skills with emphasis on customer service.

Ability to create a positive work atmosphere for co-workers, volunteers, and participants.

Excellent problem solving ability.

Excellent time management skills.

Valid Class G driver's licence and clean drivers abstract.

Forklift licence an asset.

Knowledge of Microsoft software programs.

Able to work periodic weekends or evenings to support community food drives or events.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: $20.00 per hour
