Occupational Certification:

Possession of a valid and current Class 3 Nova Scotia driver's license, or other provincial equivalency, with air brake endorsement. Provision of a driver's abstract, which is to show a minimum of five (5) year driving record that is free of at-fault traffic accidents, convictions, suspensions and revocations.


Experience

Substantial and extensive experience in the operation of commercial and heavy equipment, such as backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, salt trucks, and snowploughs.

Additional Experience

Experience in the operation of road graders or the ability to be trained to an acceptable level of proficiency in the grader operation by Parks Canada.
Additional Abilities

Ability to identify equipment malfunctions, carry out minor maintenance and repairs, determine the cause and to effectively report them. Ability to perform general labour tasks as they relate to roads and grounds maintenance.

Operational Requirements:

Willingness to work shiftwork, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial holidays when required.

Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required.

Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain and in adverse weather conditions.
