Job Summary:

First Student is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused

Driver Trainer

to join our team in Winnipeg. The Driver Trainer plays a key role in ensuring our drivers are well-prepared, confident, and compliant with all safety and operational standards. This position involves training new hires, conducting refresher courses, and supporting continuous improvement in driver performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver classroom and behind-the-wheel training for new and existing drivers. Ensure all training meets company, provincial, and federal safety standards. Conduct evaluations and road tests to assess driver readiness. Provide coaching and feedback to improve driving habits and safety awareness. Maintain accurate training records and documentation. Support accident investigations and retraining as needed. Collaborate with the Location Manager and Safety team to identify training needs. Promote a culture of safety and professionalism.

Qualifications:

Valid Class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement. Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience (school bus or commercial vehicle preferred). Previous experience in training or coaching drivers is an asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead classroom sessions and hands-on training. Comfortable using basic computer systems for recordkeeping and reporting. Knowledge of Manitoba traffic laws and commercial vehicle regulations.
