Overview


We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Driver Safety & Training Manager to oversee driver safety programs, develop comprehensive training initiatives, and ensure compliance with all transportation safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of various commercial vehicle operations, including Semi trucks, freight hauling, specialized in flatbed and heavy equipment operation. This leadership role requires strong communication skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to manage a diverse fleet of vehicles such as tractor-trailers, Super B, and dump trailers. The Driver Safety & Training Manager will play a vital role in promoting a safety-first culture across our transportation operations while ensuring drivers are well-trained and compliant with industry standards.

Responsibilities



Develop, implement, and oversee driver safety training programs tailored to different vehicle types including commercial vehicles,Semi-trucks, Trailers, Flat bed, Super B and heavy equipment. Conduct regular safety audits and assessments to identify risks and ensure adherence to federal and state transportation regulations. Coordinate driver onboarding processes, including orientation on safety policies, vehicle operation procedures, and load management protocols. Monitor driver performance through evaluations and coaching sessions to promote safe driving behaviors across all routes such as route driving, heavy haul operations, and paratransit services. Manage documentation related to driver certifications, licenses (including driver), and compliance records. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure vehicles are mechanically sound and meet safety standards; provide guidance on mechanical issues related to commercial vehicles like manual transmission trucks or flatbeds. Lead investigations into any accidents or safety incidents involving company vehicles; recommend corrective actions. Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting commercial driving operations. Promote a culture of safety awareness through ongoing training sessions on topics such as load & unload procedures, tow truck operations, forklift handling, heavy equipment operation, and other specialized vehicle skills.

Experience



Proven experience in commercial driving roles such as Class1 driver , freight hauling (tractor-trailer), or heavy haul operations, must have flat bed experience. Strong mechanical knowledge related to commercial vehicles including dump trucks, tanker trucks, flatbeds, box trucks, and tractor-trailers. Prior experience in training or managing drivers within a transportation or logistics environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with various vehicle types such as freight trucks, yard jockeys, tow trucks, forklift operators, and heavy equipment is preferred. Excellent communication skills for delivering training programs effectively across diverse teams. Knowledge of safety regulations governing commercial vehicle operation at local and federal levels. Ability to lead safety initiatives that enhance operational efficiency while minimizing risk across all transportation activities. Pay: $58,320.02-$104,204.93 per year
