Job Summary:

The Drill and Blast Field Technician is responsible for assisting in the planning, execution, and monitoring of drilling and blasting operations for highway construction and mining/quarry operations. The role ensures that blasting activities comply with safety regulations, project specifications, and environmental considerations while optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Duties:

- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute drilling patterns efficiently. Thoroughly document results of blasts.

- Perform routine safety and operational inspections of worksites.

- Maintain accurate records of drilling and blasting activities

- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent; experience with drilling and blasting and/or highway construction is preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in field technician role or similar. Computer skills are required regular use of office software, particularly Excel. CAD/design experience is a great advantage. Strong understanding of safety regulations and hazard recognition. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and blast design plans. Survey, drone and seismograph experience is beneficial. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required. Blaster's certification or explosives handling license is a plus. Ability to work long hours in various weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety. Workload will be 50/50 split between office and field work. Work schedule is fly-in/fly-out to Labrador West; typically 2 weeks in and 2 weeks home rotation. Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing project requirements.
