Treks 4 Pets, is hiring a full-time commercial dog walker. The position is a 10-hour shift, Tuesday to Friday, with opportunities to work overtime on Mondays and weekends and make extra money contracting as a house sitter, dog boarder or picking up cat visits. The start time is 7:30 AM until 5:00 PM with a paid 30-minute break. We are based in Lynn Valley and hike clients from Deep Cove to West Vancouver.

You will be in teams of two for the driving to pick up and drop off your groups, but you hike solo(twice a day) with a maximum of 4 dogs per group. We supply you with all the required gear, including a dog-walking vehicle which you will use to pick up dog clients, drive to the trailhead, and return them home afterwards. Depending on the day, you may also have a private neighbourhood walk between your two treks. Each hike is approximately 60-90 minutes long with a minimum of 5 km, and the private neighbourhood walks are 30 or 60 minutes and 2-4km. This adds up to around 10-15 km daily, so a high fitness level is required. Knowledge of North Vancouver and West Vancouver trails or the ability to use mapping apps such as All Trails or Strava is an asset. Dog handling experience is also an asset, but most importantly, a love for animals and the outdoors and critical thinking skills are needed. Please note that a current driver's license is mandatory for this job.

Paid training is provided, including five days of training and pet first aid certification. The position comes with full benefits and competitive wages. Please note our starting wage is $23.60 an hour(Non negotiable). Once the employee is past the three-month probationary period, you will receive full benefits package, paid sick days and vacation days. Treks 4 Pets pays for a basic benefits plan through the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan. Once signed up, an employee can personally choose to upgrade and add to their plan. Treks 4 Pets will always cover the base plan, and any upgrade would be a personal add-on for the employee.

As of 2022, Treks 4 Pets is excited to offer five sick days and five vacation days per year, which you are eligible for once you complete your three-month probationary time!
