Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Dog Groomer to join our team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the health and well-being of the dogs in our care, both current residents and alumni who return for continued support.Many of our dogs come from difficult backgrounds and may have behavioural or medical challenges. We are looking for a groomer who is not only skilled in grooming techniques but also patient, intuitive, and confident working with dogs who may require extra time, understanding, and care.

Dog Tales is a world-renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary set on an incredible 50 acres of green fields, rolling hills, and wooded areas in King City, Ontario. Our picturesque location - complete with walking trails, therapy pools, and a grooming spa - is the perfect setting for abused and neglected animals to heal and be rehabilitated while they wait for forever homes. Along with medical care, our team provides all of the love, attention and training that our rescue animals need to recover from their difficult pasts, so that they can move on to permanent, loving homes, which most do. The Role:

Provide professional grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, nail clipping, and ear cleaning for dogs currently in our care and for alumni. Work closely with other departments to develop individual grooming plans based on the dog's temperament and needs. Handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments--including those with fear, anxiety, or reactivity. Use low-stress handling techniques to ensure a positive grooming experience Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary grooming environment Monitor and report any health or behavioural concerns observed during grooming sessions Assist with record-keeping for grooming appointments Maintain grooming tools and equipment.

What You Bring:

Minimum 2 years of professional dog grooming experience. Demonstrated experience working with dogs with behavioural challenges. Knowledge of breed-specific grooming standards and styles. Ability to lift and handle dogs up to 100lbs. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Patience, empathy, and a deep passion for animal welfare.

Compensation:

$20.50 - $25.00 per hour based on experience

Schedule:

This is a full-time position. The current hours are 7:30am- 4:30pm from Tuesday-Saturday.
