Coal Harbour Marina is British Columbia's premiere, destination marina.
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Coal Harbour Marina offers boaters exceptional facilities and services in a world-class city. With over 240 slips, our clientele represents a wide and diverse cross-section of the boating community.
Built in 1997, Coal Harbour Marina is preparing to embark on a new journey. From our foundation in high quality marina infrastructure, moorage, and guest services, we are investing in our facilities and people with sustainable innovation at the forefront.
Role and Responsibilities:
As part of the facilities management team, the successful candidate for the Dockhand position will bring a positive attitude to the marina team. Although previous marina experience is an asset, we are prepared to invest in training and teaching you the ins and outs of dock operations. Your strong customer-service skills, coupled with a great attitude and friendly demeanour ensure that you will fit in within our organisational culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct security walks and facility checks across the marina and parkade
Remove garbage and recycling; maintain clean and safe public areas
Operate black water pump-out system for boats (training provided)
Clean and disinfect washrooms, laundry room, office, and docks
Power wash and detail marina surfaces (when working in pairs
Light maintenance including painting, equipment checks, and organization
Interact with clients and tenants in a friendly and professional manner
Monitor and report safety hazards or rule violations to management
Requirements:
Minimum two years of customer service experience
Marina and/or boating experience is an asset
At least two years of maintenance/construction experience
Experience with the safe usage of power tools
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
Computer literacy with MS Office programs
Skills
Canadian citizen or permanent resident only
VHF Radio Certification
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
First Aid Certification
Post-secondary and/or Technical Institute training
Previous experience in marina, maintenance, or hospitality roles preferred
Good swimming ability
Boating license
This role is highly physical. The successful candidate must be able to perform the following:
Safe operation of hand tools and machinery
Carry or lift items weighing up to 23kg (50lbs)
Work on barges, skiffs, and floating structures
Bending, stooping, kneeling, walking on long distances on floating structures
