Our Team:

The Thompson Mines Technical Services (MTS) Team is integral to the success of the operations in being a safe and reliable producer. We aim to design and plan safe, sustainable ore extraction through technical excellence in the areas of geology, mine planning, ventilation, backfill, ground control, drill/blast and survey control.

We are currently seeking a Divisional Supervisor to join our Mines Technical Engineering Team in Thompson, MB. Reporting to the Mines Technical Services Manager. This is a permanent position.

As the Divisional Supervisor, you will provide direct supervision and leadership to the Mid-Range and Annual Capital Development team in Thompson, MB that will ensure the mine plans are based on sound engineering principles that meet or exceed all safety, production and cost requirements.

Additionally, in this position you will

  • Responsible for the preparation of mine plans for the 3\xe2\x80\x9324-month horizon to ensure plans are appropriately scheduled and resourced as per Life of Mine Plan.
  • Ensure ongoing technical support to the operation to meet the Mine annual plan and objectives, seek out opportunities for continuous improvements and lead or participate in teams to implement them.
  • Assist with the yearly Mine Operating and Capital Budgeting Processes and contribute to cost improvement initiatives.
  • Convey the importance of safety in all aspects of planning, ensure everyone conducts themselves in a safe manner, promote all aspects of the Safe Production program.
  • Assist section coordinators with scheduling of all mining activities to ensure timely execution for supporting uninterrupted production flow,
  • Support Operations and the Integrated Operation Schedule process (IOS) in adherence to the schedule. Tracking data and KPI reports
  • Supervise and oversee the activities of the Mid-Range and Annual Capital Development team, for their assigned area, Identify & coordinate required training for employees.
About You:
  • Technical Diploma in Mining or related discipline or high school diploma with strong skills in math and computer skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Mine Technical Services experience is required
  • Underground mine design, mine engineering, scheduling, and high level of understanding of underground mining activities
  • Knowledge of engineering planning software Deswik is an asset
  • Expert in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics is an asset
  • Forward-thinking creativity a plus \xe2\x80\x93 not only use proven standard methodologies, but also promote new insights and processes to maximize the value of our mineral resources
