We are looking to hire an exceptional
District Sales Manager
, with proven success leading sales teams, by empowering, directing, and supporting the activities of Sales Representatives in the assigned district. Thus, ensuring that strategic sales targets are met or exceeded. The District Sales Manager will also be accountable for managing the planning and performance of the sales team, providing mentoring and high-performance coaching.
Duties & Responsibilities
Developing innovative sales strategies, participating in closing sales as needed, and handling complex queries and customer complaints in an effective, and professional manner
Participating in the selection and development of the sales team, through on-boarding processes, and ongoing coaching for high performance
Managing the performance of team members through ongoing constructive feedback; driving the recruitment pipeline; conducting the formal review process and training; and developing succession plans for high potential candidates
Exemplifying a commitment to excellence when mentoring and coaching the sales team--working one-on-one, in team conference calls, and regular sales meetings
Leading and managing the execution of sales programs such as National Accounts, Customer Merchandising Agreements, Perfect Store Audit, Market Surveys, Asset Agreements, and Planogram
Opening and closing daily warehouse operations, and monitoring inventory accrual and auditing sales representatives' submissions to accounting
Maintaining warehouse floor organization, and seeing to it that working conditions and cleanliness align with company standards, e.g., regularly cleaning and repacking expired or damaged cases; and communicating the results to the operations team
Overseeing fleet management and ensuring that all trucks are kept in good working condition, e.g., including to maintenance protocols and cleanliness standards
Providing operational support for fleet management--including vehicle swaps, transfers, and fleet movement as needed
Delivering fleet documents as required, e.g., up-to-date insurance slips and stickers
Generating and developing ad hoc business reports related to district accounts and activities including--but not limited to--skipped accounts, service times, sales closings, etc.
Supporting POS placement and regular deliveries to accounts; and coaching best-in-class practices of vehicle loading and inventory management.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum 3-5 years direct management experience working with and directing sales representatives
Post-secondary education
Proven record of successfully leading and directing both retail and wholesale sales forces
5-7 years of previous sales experience, including distribution channel management, account development, and with tasks involving business planning and growth strategies
Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience, with direct hands-on practice with route to market procedures, is preferred
Thorough understanding of retail and/or wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
Expertise examining and re-engineering sales operations, and with developing and implementing new strategies
Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills, and adept problem identification and resolution abilities
Solid negotiation, conflict resolution, team-building, and 'people management' skills
Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques.
Valid Class G Driver License is mandatory, with a minimum of 3 years driving experience and a safe and clean driving record
Valid Class D-DZ License is an asset
