Term of Employment: Full-Time, Summer Term (April 29, 2024 \xe2\x80\x93 August 16, 2024)
Rate of Pay: Water & Wastewater Salary Grid: $30.12 per hour
(Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)
Current Location: Operations Center
Duties: As a member of the Water Distribution Team, the Distribution Operator is responsible for providing safe drinking water to the citizens of Lloydminster, by following strict operating procedures, ensuring all \xe2\x80\x9cPermit to Operate\xe2\x80\x9d guidelines are met. Specific duties include:

  • Perform operational and maintenance inspections and testing of Distribution system assets such as fire hydrants, water mains, valves, meters and meter reading equipment
  • Install water meters and remote meter reading equipment
  • Perform water meter accuracy checks, trouble shoot customer metering complaints, and provide field repairs as required.
  • Perform water connects/disconnects.
  • Inspections of the Raw Water transmission line and equipment.
  • Locating and repairs of curb stops.
  • Assist with Hydro excavating for Water distribution repairs.
  • Assist with disinfecting and flushing of water mains.
  • Sampling and submitting Bacteriological samples.
  • Documentation of all water maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Participate in the City of Lloydminster\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Management System.
  • Position may involve on-call, shift work and the assignment of alternate relevant duties on occasion.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Enrollment in post-secondary for: Environmental Sciences, Water Distribution, Water Treatment Technology would be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to converse both verbally and in written correspondence with all levels of staff, operators and all external stakeholders. Be clear and concise while providing relevant information on the appropriate technical level.
  • Must have strong time management skills to balance changing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Work conditions may include: fast paced environment, physically demanding, must be able to lift up to 25kg (50 lbs), and be able to work at heights (ladder use)
  • Valid Class 5 Vehicle Operator\xe2\x80\x99s License (registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan) with a clear driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract.
  • Contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal record check prior to start date.
  • Preference will be given to students.
Schedule: Normal working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00 am \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours.
