Job Description

Position Summary



The Dispatcher coordinates and monitors daily auto parts and industrial supply deliveries to customers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism. This position serves as the communication hub between drivers, warehouse staff, sales, and customers. Responsibilities include route planning, order assignment, progress tracking, and issue resolution to maintain service excellence.

Key Responsibilities



Dispatching & Scheduling



Assign and monitor delivery routes for delivery drivers. Optimize routes for efficiency, cost control, and on-time delivery. Adjust schedules as needed due to staffing constraints, order changes, traffic, or weather.

Communication & Coordination



Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, warehouse staff, and the sales team. Clearly communicate delivery instructions and updates. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure orders are staged, verified, and ready. Provide real-time updates to customers and internal teams on status, delays, or confirmations. Reply to emails and phone calls as quickly as possible to ensure you are getting the most up-to-date information.

Monitoring & Problem-Solving



Track driver activity using GPS, two-way radio, and Excel tools. Respond quickly to delivery issues, missed orders, or emergency calls. Maintain accurate delivery logs and incident records.

Compliance & Safety



Ensure all drivers follow company policies, safety procedures, and traffic laws. Monitor hours of service and vehicle usage to meet legal and company requirements. Report and support investigation of any accidents or safety concerns. Ensure receipt of daily PDI inspections per driver, daily. Ensure drivers are keeping vehicles clean, washed inside and out. Report all breakdowns and obtain quotes to management ASAP for approval.

Administration & Reporting



Record, scan, and file delivery documents and route logs. Prepare performance reports on delivery accuracy, timeliness, and service levels. Recommend improvements to routes, workflows, or customer communication practices.

Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary in logistics or transportation an asset). Previous dispatching or logistics coordination experience preferred. Knowledge of the auto parts industry is an asset. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office. Able to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
