Position Overview:
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the transportation of goods to ensure efficient routing, accurate scheduling, and timely deliveries that meet customer and operational requirements. This role serves as a central communication link between drivers, customers, and internal teams while promoting safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
o Oversee the transportation of goods, ensuring efficient routes, accurate scheduling, and timely deliveries to meet customer requirements.
o Utilize logistics software or systems to optimize delivery routes, minimize transportation costs, and maximize efficiency.
o Assign drivers or delivery personnel to specific routes and deliveries, considering factors such as proximity, capacity, and urgency.
o Serve as a primary point of contact between drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders, providing updates, addressing inquiries, and resolving conflicts or discrepancies.
o Lead and supervise a team of drivers or delivery personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a high level of productivity and professionalism.
o Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, and other relevant documentation. Prepare regular reports on delivery performance, efficiency, and other key metrics.
o Ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards. Promote a culture of safety and implement measures to minimize accidents or incidents.
o Proactively identify and resolve logistical challenges, such as rerouting due to road closures, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in delivery requirements
o Additional duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience in customer service is required; knowledge of building materials is an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new software programs.
Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant advantage.
Working relationships
o Reports directly to the Downey Logistics Manager.
