Reporting to the Chef, the Dishwasher is accountable for ware-washing, pot washing and sanitation of the department. The Dishwasher is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service utilizing the Ready, Set, Serve Program as it applies to the serving areas, setting, serving and cleaning tables;
Responsible for maintaining the dining room and bistro/cafe areas in a tour ready manner;
Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef;
Responsible for tray preparation/presentation; assist with beverage porting to residents in the dining room.
Carries out cleaning duties and routines, including scraping, washing, stacking and storage of dishes; mopping, sweeping and drain cleaning
Practices and maintains established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of food preparation and service as required by the health department;
Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures;
Complies with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures and ORCA standards to ensure the department is tour ready;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Cleans dishes, pots, glassware, and cutlery following established sanitation procedures;
Monitors and records the temperature of the dish machine at least twice daily. Reports all deficiencies to the Chef;
Ensures correct usage of chemicals in dish machine and pot-washing areas, i.e. uses 3-sink method for pot washing; ? Receives, uncrates, and puts away supplier deliveries as required;
Breaks down cardboard boxes and prepares boxes for re-cycling or disposal;
Cleans dish machine and pot washing area thoroughly. Assumes cleaning tasks as per site cleaning schedules;
Cleans kitchen, including mopping entire floor;
Alerts Chef to problems and makes recommendations about corrective action;
Participates actively in department's Quality Management program and any department/facility committees as requested;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;
Safe Food Handling Certification preferred;
Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process an asset;
Proven customer service skills;
Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
EDUCATION:
Minimum grade 12

Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
Work in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
Perform other duties as required.
