Planning day program that includes teaching life and daily living skills.Candidate must be physically active, based upon the needs of the client. A good understanding of non-verbal clues is an asset in this position.NOTE* CUPE union membership requiredIn Your Role You Will

  • Mentor and teach life skills including communication skills, coping with emotions and change, budgeting, household management, boundaries and self care, relationships, self expression, social skills, coping tools, community awareness, personal safety, etc.
  • Help find activities of interest.
  • Develop life skills and help find volunteer/ employment opportunities.
  • Drive individual in your own vehicle (and stay as a support/participate) to medical appointments, recreational activities, community events, etc.
  • Promote inclusion in community activities involving educational, recreational programming and participation in the volunteer sector.
  • Link the client to community support services and employment coaching such as resume building or job searches.

  • Grade 12 diploma or diploma in Disability Studies or related Social Sciences/Human Services or equivalent.
Training or Experience:
- 2 years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.Licenses/Certificates:
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver\'s license, Driver\'s Abstract and proof of insurability.
- First Aid/CPR, Restrictive Procedures, Abuse Protocols, Non Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention.Other:
- Must be physically active, with the ability to understand non-verbal clues.
- Use of common/business computer applications.
