Reporting to the program manager the respite worker is responsible for providing support to individuals with Developmental Disabilities and their families. The respite worker will work in the homes and communities of the people we support, this will require you to be adaptable to many different roles and environments.
Some of the key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following
Support the visions and values of Inclusions Developmental Services and represent yourself and the company is professional manor
Work in family support roles such as Family Support Groups, Sibling Groups, and social groups for children and adults.
Will work collaboratively with various agencies and community groups as well as working supportively with the day programing team.
Service coordination support either formally or informally.
Direct support to individuals with a variety of developmental disabilities including 1:1 teaching supports, group sessions, workshops, and the development and implementation of teaching strategies in the various environments (i.e. home, school, community, resource centre).
Work with and report to families and community groups and partner agencies in a professional fashion
Maintain confidentiality either directly and indirectly at all times
Follow behavioural and Crisis Protocols as documented
Maintain certification in CPR/First Aid and behaviour management
Administer Medication as per protocols
Be knowledgeable about the care plan of the person you are supporting, seek out clarification from a manager if anything is not understood.
