As the Director of Venue Planning, you\'re the maestro behind asset management for eleven diverse facilities, from arenas and stadiums to athletic fields, office spaces, and restaurants. Your expertise in large, complex facilities management in a dynamic 365 environment, coupled with your mastery of people leadership and stakeholder relationships, will set you apart.

  • Drive MLSE\'s extensive annual capital projects program from concept, design, construction/procurement, commissioning, to handover.
  • Lead the execution of MLSE\'s long-term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans for each venue.
  • Develop, update, and oversee MLSE\'s venue design and architectural standards.
  • Optimize facilities and asset management programs, minimizing downtime and repair/replacement expenditures.
  • Support the formulation, development, and implementation of MLSE policies regarding facility alteration and change processes.
  • Manage building condition reports and address findings.
  • Support the concept, design, and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee project planning and delivery, including developing and managing comprehensive project development strategies, project budgets & resource work plans.
  • Provide guidance and direction to internal clients in their capital project needs to achieve department and company objectives.
  • Select, manage, and coordinate external service providers (consultants/contractors and technical resources) as required.
  • Negotiate contracts and changes in scope, timing, and deliverables with clients, contractors, and external consultants.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to executives, clients, and the board on project budgets and schedules.
  • Monitor schedules and budgets to ensure projects are being delivered within budget, on time, and at the expected level of service delivery.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, constructors, and partners.
Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Venue Management, Engineering, Environmental Management, Construction, Real Estate Management, or a related field of study.
  • 8-10 years of experience in venue management, asset management, facility operations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of administrative experience at the Director level or above in a large, complex organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, complex projects.
  • Knowledge of capital and financial planning and managing a budget.
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts with consultants, facility owners, tenants, and various service providers required.
  • Knowledge of leases is an asset.
  • Experience in building operations, maintenance, and repair functions.
  • Architectural/design experience is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building abilities, and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills to reach efficient and effective solutions in a collaborative manner.
  • The ability to lead major activities in a collaborative manner with a wide range of internal and external constituencies.
  • Sports/Hospitality/Entertainment industry experience is an asset.
