The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Director, US Tax. This job is full-time permanent.

Your challenges:

More specifically, you will focus on the following areas:

  • Overseeing the timely and accurate preparation and review of all U.S. federal and state & local income tax filings;
  • The preparation and review of the U.S. income tax provision, with emphasis on standardized and adequate SOX documentation of supporting calculations and of significant tax positions;
  • Assisting the Director, Tax Accounting and Reporting and Corporate Accounting to meet periodic reporting and disclosure requirements;
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with Corporate Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and Internal Audit personnel;
  • Providing advice on internal projects, such as M&A and restructuring transactions with U.S. federal, state & local, and cross border tax implications;
  • Managing tax audits and reviews conducted by the various U.S. federal and state taxing authorities, including research, issue development, negotiation, and resolution;
  • Working with external consultants to identify potential U.S. property tax minimization opportunities and to ensure compliance with property tax obligations;
  • Supervising the U.S. indirect tax team and working with the SAP project team on the implementation of a OneSource Bolton module to SAP;
  • Ensuring that the Company complies with all of its U.S. Sales & Use tax obligations;
  • Managing outside technical advisers and consultants in connection with various Company projects and initiatives
Your profile:
  • Professional accounting designation;
  • Graduate degree in taxation or completion of recognized executive level U.S. or Canadian tax course, or equivalent;
  • A minimum of 10 years of U.S. tax experience, with several years of experience in a tax management role;
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. federal and state & local income tax with practical tax experience in an industry setting (an asset);
  • A proven ability to manage the U.S. tax compliance process for a large multinational organization;
  • Technical proficiency in U.S. taxation of foreign operations, including controlled foreign corporations (\xe2\x80\x9cCFCs\xe2\x80\x9d), foreign partnerships, and foreign disregarded entities;
  • Experience acting as an adviser on M&A transactions, tax due diligence projects, and internal reorganizations;
  • Expert knowledge of accounting for income taxes; experience preparing and reviewing U.S. tax provisions for companies reporting under U.S. GAAP;
  • An aptitude for the development of, and the adherence to, internal controls, particularly in a SOX environment;
  • A strong grasp of U.S. indirect tax principles, especially as they apply to manufacturing companies;
  • A high level understanding of property tax concepts.
