About Hanson College Hanson College, established in 2001, is a private educational institution that delivers college diploma programs, post graduate diploma programs, and language training programs to international students. We are hiring a Director, Student Services for our Ontario Campuses.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the student services department operations at the Toronto and Brampton campuses;
  • Establishing performance objectives for the student services department; developing, implementing and tracking measurable key metrics for direct reports to monitor performance and assess progress; conducting annual performance reviews of staff within the student services department;
  • Providing leadership, direction, supervision, training, guidance, and support to staff within the student services department;
  • Developing the annual student engagement event calendar, and preparing the annual budget for the student services department;
  • Overseeing and delivering on and off campus events, continually pursuing greater student engagement, this including planning, organizing, and executing orientation and convocation in collaboration with the Office of Registrar, Academic Department, and Admissions Department;
  • Collaborating with other departments to foster a positive and productive environment for all students; organizing proactive and responsive services to support the mental health and well-being of all students;
  • Providing oversight in creating departmental policies and procedures, facilitating departmental communication, and ensuring compliance while providing daily guidance in decision-making in complex and crisis student situations;
  • Ensuring the student services department provides professional, proactive, student focused, and exceptional front-line service in a variety of formats to a diverse student population;
  • Participating in management meetings, reporting student services performance, and offering suggestions and solutions to improve overall students’ engagement and satisfaction, and overall college performance;
  • Spearheading student leadership initiatives which may include Student Ambassadors, Student Council, or other initiatives each semester;
  • Connecting with students who plan to withdraw or defer for non-academic reasons, and providing the appropriate support;
  • Collaborating with the Academic Department to determine and issue scholarship and student awards.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field with a record of professional accomplishment in student services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of exposure in educational management with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience sustaining partnerships and collaborations with events providers.
  • Experience with Schoology or similar Learning Management platforms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Team player with a client-centric mindset and positive attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Familiar with emerging educational technologies and the effective application of instructional technologies to enhance the student experience.
