Director, Software Centre of Excellence

JANA is looking for a driven individual to lead our Software Engineering Centre of Excellence. The centre\xe2\x80\x99s remit is to elevate JANA\xe2\x80\x99s Software Development operation by designing and propagating practices including software pipeline, QA, technical documentation, and coding standards. The strategic outcome of this work is to improve development velocity, enhance quality, achieve appropriate audit standards for software development, and provide benefits across the entire SDLC including implementation and production support. This is a Level III role is responsible for cultivating a multi-year plan and building a team to execute on key initiatives including DevOps and Automated QA.

Organizational Leadership:
  • Accountable for fulfilment of the remit for the Software Engineering Centre of Excellence.
  • Manage JANA\xe2\x80\x99s Staff Developer team.

  • Recruit Level II lead for DevOps and drive the planning for JANA\xe2\x80\x99s DevOps practice.
  • Recruit Level II lead for Automated QA and drive the planning for JANA\xe2\x80\x99s QA practice.
  • Oversee audit-related practices including management of technical debt, SBOM, and development standards.
  • Provide business cases for appropriate future staffing, tools, and initiatives.
  • Propagate practices across all product development.
  • Collaborate with CTO, Product Management, Development Managers, Software Architect, and others across JANA.
  • Technical RFP contributions in collaboration with Product Management.
  • Own software partner relationships including ESRI, Google Android, Microsoft and Hexacta.
  • Advise on Software Developer recruitment and training in collaboration with HR function.
Technical Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading software development teams in a collaborative and matrix organization.
  • Excellent business acumen and cross functional expertise.
  • Understanding of the principles underlying software development pipelines and QA. Demonstrated success in
  • leading teams in these areas is an asset.
