The Director, Scientific and Professional Affairs will lead the development and implementation of medical and education strategies to enable our products and solutions to achieve optimized market access and adoption as well as enhance the scientific and professional reputation of MedTech Canada. This individual will have ownership and lead integrated evidence strategy development and effective evidence dissemination processes and programs to demonstrate the clinical value of our products with external stakeholders and play a strategic role in developing and advancing the organization\'s scientific and professional objectives. The successful candidate will lead a team of Clinical, Medical and Medical and Commercial Education Managers and be a seasoned leader with experience in scientific and professional affairs within the MedTech industry, and a deep understanding of the relevant stakeholders, including Commercial, HEMA, researchers, clinicians, regulators, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Manages all company-sponsored educational activity programs in alignment with HCC policies and procedures (educational grants, fellowship, educational materials and sponsorships)
  • Provide overall Clinical/Medical oversight and ensure local copy review and medical information requests as well as review medical communications
  • Works closely with all regional and global leadership teams to ensure alignment with global strategy and HCC policies and procedures as well as communicate local research needs
  • Manage Canadian Investor Initiated Study requests from application through to study completion
  • Anticipate or identify changes in the marketplace that may provide scientific, medical and/or commercial opportunities for JNJ. Remains current with relevant clinical, scientific and regulatory developments
  • Overall budget management and input into global budgets and forecasts

Qualifications

Requirements
  • Required Minimum Education : University Degree \xe2\x80\x93 Relevant scientific or medical field
    • Other: Advanced Scientific degree in a relevant field. MD, PharmD preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Health Industry, academic research, health care management and or other medically relevant experience (ie. Medical Affairs and or Clinical Development)
  • 3-5 years of experience developing and leading Evidence Generation and Evidence Dissemination strategies
  • Deep and broad surgical/clinical knowledge across complex and fast-changing healthcare ecosystems
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex scientific and medical information to diverse audiences
  • Experience in the planning and delivery of MedTech scientific educational programs is strongly preferred
  • Strong digital acumen
  • Knowledge of Clinical Research, both company-sponsored and Investigator Initiated
  • Data management and statistical analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with key healthcare stakeholders
  • 30% Travel combined Domestically and Internationally
  • Required Years of People Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years
