Job Description

As a Director, Real Estate & Environment you will be responsible to direct and lead a team of real estate professionals in the management of Irving Oil's Canada and US real estate portfolio and property projects. This real estate portfolio would include property administration and management, property valuations and assessments, acquisitions and dispositions, lease payable & receivable, easements and Right of Ways, deeds, surveys, as well as environmental liabilities and remediation projects. Your proven experience with real estate matters, along with your relationship management and strong leaderships skills, will support your success in this position.

Your Responsibilities:• Develop and execute on the Real Estate and Environment 5 Year Plan.
• Provide leadership and develop strategies regarding the Company's environmental liabilities.
• Oversee the management of the Company's real estate portfolio- annual operating budget, leasing opportunities, repairs and maintenance, etc. including the development of ongoing cost improvement strategies and initiatives.
• Manage and provide leadership direction regarding the Company's property assessment/taxation portfolio.
• Oversight, direction and support the management of Company property and lease administration - Title, Easements/Right of Ways Lease receivable and payable negotiations, Rent Roll, etc.
• Ensure efficient and effective execution of administration processes are in place for managing company wide property and lease portfolio.
• Lead, develop and collaborate with Team Managers on Property and Lease strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
• Leadership of the Real Estate & Environment Team, this includes coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations and training and development.
• Lead and support company and team strategic initiatives.
• Provide timely, concise and accurate updates to Senior Leadership with regards to any significant property or environmental matter.


Your Skills:• Extensive knowledge of the commercial real estate industry - petroleum industry experience would be considered an asset.
• Proven ability to think strategically.
• General understanding of Environmental Conditions and Regulations - specifically related to petroleum/hydrocarbon in Atlantic Canada and New England.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, self-directed, motivated.
• Excellent motivational skills.
• Effective decision-making skills.
• Proven Leadership skills.
• Ability to mentor and coach direct reports and peer levels.
• Experience in Microsoft Suite of products.


Your Experience:• Bachelor's Degree, law degree considered an asset.
• 5 - 10 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in commercial real estate.
