Job Title Director, QE Practice




































What is the opportunity? The Quality Engineering Experience (QEX) COE at RBC is seeking a strategic leader to lead QE practices across the enterprise. As part of this role, you will set the strategic direction for testing practices and test automation across the enterprise. You will also manage and lead QE community engagement through a team of senior managers and managers and implements new initiatives/ new products for QE practice across the enterprise.

As part of this role, you will be heavily involved in shaping the future of Quality Engineering at RBC, by leading the rollout of Behavior Driven Development, best-in-class test automation tools/ practices, and best-in-class test case management solutions. What will you do?

  • Set the strategic direction for the team and define key initiatives to enhance QE practice maturity across the enterprise
  • Drive shift-left objectives and behavior-driven development to enhance quality, champion defect prevention, early defect detection, and diagnostics through automated functional testing
  • Lead the development of quality controls within the DevOps pipeline
  • Set measurable quality metrics for the enterprise. Provide monthly insights to LOBs based on metrics and identify measurable improvements for QE
  • Champion and lead monthly community engagements and training to promote and socialize the standard testing pipeline and best practices for quality engineering
  • Lead implementation/ onboarding of standard testing pipeline and automation frameworks across all lines of businesses
  • Build partnerships with QE champions across LOBs to drive forward best practices and standards for Quality Engineering
  • Manages the activities of one or more teams within the COE, enabling alignment with overarching COE strategy and deriving value from teams
  • Work in partnership with other COEs and technology leadership to create shared quality ownership as well as prioritize and champion larger initiatives
  • Provide thought leadership on test automation and testing practices for clients
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
  • Innovative, out-of-the-box thinker with a Shift-left mindset who is capable of being a change agent for the entire enterprise
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Developer/ Quality Engineer/ Automation Engineer with knowledge of functional automation testing tools, Behavior Driven Development (BDD), and test case management through qTest
  • Minimum 5 years of technical people management experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience presenting to and leading discussions with senior leadership
  • Strong understanding of continuous testing methodologies
  • Positive approach, self-motivated, strong relationship building, team player, approachable and dynamic leader, and creative ability to find gaps and build own initiatives
Nice-to-have
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience working/ leading a center of excellence
  • Experience with test case management solutions such as qTest
