(Permanent Position)THE OPPORTUNITYReporting to the Associate Vice-President \xe2\x80\x93 Facilities, the Director, Physical Infrastructure and Sustainability is an integral member of the Facilities leadership team responsible for facilities planning, design, engineering, renewal, and sustainability. This position holds the long-term focus on infrastructure inclusive of accessibility, indigenous, and equity principles in supporting teaching, learning, and research for a modern university.The Director, Physical Infrastructure and Sustainability will provide strategic and operational leadership for the planning, design, and construction of university major and minor capital projects, as well as managing the multi-year, multi-million-dollar capital deferred renewal program. The Director leads and supports a multi-disciplined team of professionals with a strong commitment to their success and development; holds accountability for the capital project life cycle and space management program; champions sustainability and climate action and strategic planning; guides the development and implementation of programs and policies for sustainability, space planning, and infrastructure requirements of the university; collaborates with consultants and contractors; identifies funding opportunities and develops proposals, budgets, and presentations on the sustainable landscape and infrastructure planning and development.THE CANDIDATEYou are a strategic leader with superb communication and negotiating skills who, through collaboration and creativity, is able to solve problems and build strong relationships internal and external to the university. You act with a clear commitment to sustainability as a leader of Memorial\xe2\x80\x99s sustainability culture. You are highly motivated and an experienced professional with a proven track record of success in leading major capital projects, preferably in large complex organizations. Typically, this knowledge and experience is developed through education and professional certification in engineering or architecture; or extensive experience in a comparable role. In addition, you have significant project management skills, sound knowledge of construction and the construction industry, experience with public tendering and the public procurement act, and have experience managing a team of professionals. Eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador is required.
