Reporting to the COO & SVP, People, Culture & Belonging, the Director, People, Culture and Belonging will be a key member of the Senior Management Team. This is an opportunity to join an organization that is on a journey of transformation where you will provide strategic direction and leadership for a wide variety of HR Programs, with the objective of empowering, supporting, and building a diverse and collaborative team.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the ongoing evolution of their approach to talent and succession management, which includes designing programs to enable the identification, assessment, and active development of talent in support of Diversity, Equity, Justice, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEI&A) strategy and their corporate objectives
  • Drive the development of the next generation of leaders across all levels of the organization. Facilitate talent review processes and ensure follow-up activities are delivered
  • Actively partner with business leaders to support and challenge leaders' thinking in achieving optimal outcomes related to talent and organization effectiveness
  • Lead a team of HR/LR practitioners to develop, support, and sustain the effective delivery of HR services, policies, programs, and best practices
  • Acts as a key resource in the interpretation and administration of collective agreements
  • Participate in, and/or takes a lead role in negotiating union contracts
  • Lead the design, delivery, and implementation of workplace change management
  • Develop a talent acquisition strategy that is routinely updated to ensure that staffing needs are met
  • Develop and/or customizes a performance management program
  • Lead the development of a culture of inclusive and collaborative teams, in which people feel both agencies and support
Qualifications:
  • University degree with completion of a Certified HR professional designation (CHRL) and/or master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience at an executive level
  • Minimum of 10 years of executive leadership in human resources/labor relations management in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated progressive experience managing HR/LR teams and handling an HR portfolio that includes a wide range of HR programs
  • Demonstrated ability to set and communicate a strategic vision, strong leadership capability
  • Demonstrated ability to operationalize HR programs focused on diversity and inclusion
  • Demonstrates an understanding that the implementation of DEI&A that encompasses empathy, compassion, intercultural communication skills, and boundary setting will need to be utilized almost daily
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively influence and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and confidential/sensitive information
  • Proven ability to impact and influence at all levels of the organization to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and HRIS systems
  • Conflict resolution skills and mediation skills with a DEI&A lens
  • Strong knowledge of the Human Rights Act, Canada Labour Code, Employment Equity Act, Official Languages Act, Pay Equity, Public Servant Disclosure Protection Act, and HR standards
  • Bilingual - French/English
