Job Description

Reimbursement Strategy, Submissions and Listing Agreements - Develops national public payer reimbursement plans, value propositions and strategies to enable positive reimbursement decisions at the federal, provincial and territorial drug plan level, as well as the hospital level. Enabling and obtaining access (formulary listing) for Purdue products through these payer channels will increase commercial viability and success.

  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the therapeutic area through secondary research and conversations with HCPs and other stakeholders
  • Reviews clinical evidence, practice guidelines, health technology assessments, and any other relevance evidence for the product and comparator products in the therapeutic area
  • Identifies gaps and work cross-functionally to develop evidence beyond standard clinical and economic studies to support reimbursement (e.g., claims analyses, real world evidence)
  • Participates, as market access lead, on launch teams, asset teams and advisory boards
  • Drafts and disseminates the market access plan to cross-functional partners and asset teams, ensuring regional reimbursement plans align to the national strategy through discussion and alignment with field market access team
  • Leads the development and delivery of submissions to health technology assessment agencies (i.e. CDR, INESSS), provincial drug plans, and private payer submissions
  • Develops, gains internal approval for, and executes the Pan Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) negotiating strategy
  • Develops and implements innovative solutions in response to payer barriers
  • Maintains network of professionals and consultancies from which to draw when projects are identified
  • Provides a public market reimbursement assessment on level / timing of market access success, opportunities / gaps, and risks for prospective business development assets in order to make informed decisions on whether to pursue an opportunity
External Stakeholder Relations: Shape and influence the market to capture the value of Elvium assets. Build and strengthen relationships to establish trust and relevance in navigating a challenging and constantly changing environment. .
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of the evolving life sciences environment at a national, regional and provincial level
  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with a broad spectrum of external stakeholders (e.g., healthcare providers, professional societies, patient advocacy groups)
  • Lead strategic government relations and develop partnerships to build the profile of Elvium and shape key external issues to improve the access and pricing environment in a positive way
  • Work with the innovative medicines industry association on responses to key policy issues
  • Identify, escalate and address potential issues that could impact the business
People Management - Talent management, performance management, coaching, career development, compensation management and motivating the team to ensure delivery of the required standards of performance
  • Identifies and provides individualized opportunities to others to capitalize on strengths or for development purposes, establishes development goals and paths for team members.
  • Leads, motivates, develops and focuses the team to ensure delivery of the required standards of excellence in service and performance
  • Leads by example and assumes personal accountability for management decisions and actions, reporting either to internal or external partners, clients and stakeholders.
Strategic Pricing - Oversees pricing strategies to maximize profit, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and externally with the PMPRB for all patented products.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of current and future pricing regulations
  • Liaises with global pricing to ensure alignment and to optimize pricing globally with respect to international price referencing and launch sequencing
  • Oversees the development and execution of launch price strategy, annual price changes and compliance with the PMPRB
Leadership Team Responsibilities - Participates in Canadian Leadership Team, Commercial Operations Team, asset team meetings, brand planning and life cycle sessions to ensure cross functional alignment and support (budget / resources) for market access plans
  • Presents market access opportunities and challenges and solicits team feedback
  • Identifies risks and develops mitigation strategies
  • Brings awareness of the external reimbursement environment factors that would impact the brand
