Director, Operations & Execution Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional from the construction industry to join our leadership team. Reporting to the Vice President, this position is responsible for high-level oversight of our team of Project Management, construction, and administrative professionals. This position will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Your strong background in organizational processes allows you to excel in smooth daily coordination of activities and flow of information between functional areas. You will facilitate communication, collaboration and efficiencies workforce management, as well as project evaluation.
You are a motivated leader with a proven track record of managing day-to-day processes. You will demonstrate a pro-active, solutions-oriented approach to maximize operational strengths and initiate and implement improvements to project plans and during the project lifecycle.
This is a hands-on, in-person role involving travel to jobsites, primarily within Ontario, with potential for travel across Canada as well. This is not a work-from-home opportunity.
Objectives of this role:
Strategize, implement, and oversee processes for increased productivity and efficiency in the field and in the office.
Coordinate with Project Managers and operations team to oversee projects from mobilization to completion.
Work closely with project management throughout the project to identify risks and minimize issues.
Oversee operational budgets, controlling costs and ensuring alignment of resources to meet the organization's operational and financial objectives.
Handle escalated client, tenant, or employee concerns; maintain regular contact with key clients.
Establish and grow relationships with relevant internal and external partners.
Responsibilities:
Analyze and report on daily, weekly and quarterly activities and provide recommendations for risk management and continuous improvement for exterior construction projects.
Oversee and collaborate with Project Managers and Project Scheduling Coordinator to advise on scheduling and manpower movements.
Collaborate with Senior Management and Project Scheduling Coordinator to perform post-completion project review, and determine lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Provide direction and answer questions related to technical aspects of construction projects.
Review site safety plans, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements and promoting the company's safety-first culture.
Team management - set clear expectations for key performance indicators, and support team members in their professional growth.
Collaborate with HR to support ongoing policy and procedural development for enhanced employee performance and retention.
Collaborate with HR to analyze performance reviews, set goals, and identify training needs for the professional development of staff.
Create and maintain rolling three-month plan for forecasting, targeting, and attaining operational and financial goals.
Participate in development of competitor analysis and pricing strategy.
Facilitate regular management meetings to track progress toward company goals, address challenges, and provide updates to Senior Management.
Address urgent needs that arise day-to-day.
Required skills and qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Business or related field.
Five or more years of experience in a construction management role - technical/construction experience is an asset.
Superior leadership skills, with focus on employee coaching and development.
Expert communicator with a desire to foster cooperation and collaboration.
Must be detail-oriented.
Must have excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Proficient at problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Able to identity problems, propose solutions, and direct/implement resolutions.
G license and your own transportation.
Facility with MS Office, MS Project, QuickBooks or related software.
Salary Offering:
Starting from $85,000 annually; Salary commensurate with skills and experience. Access to Health Spending Account and GRSP Match available after probation.
