The Opportunity:

Our partner, an established and quickly growing creative agency based in Burlington is seeking a Director of Software Engineering. Reporting directly to the VP of Technology, you will take on a leadership role and provide technical guidance. You will collaborate with strategic leaders and engineering leads to bring exciting client projects to life. You will contribute insights and innovative suggestions to take our technologies and work to the next level. As an exceptional relationship builder, you will foster partnerships with clients to understand their needs and exceed their expectations; while acting as an expert source of knowledge supporting and guiding the work of the engineering team.

What You\'ll Be Doing:

  • End-to-end project involvement. You will work with the other leaders to bring innovative technologies to projects and engage our clients in concepts and strategies from the initial phases of discovery to final client delivery and handoff. You will help the leadership team identify new business opportunities and prepare Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotes (RFQ), Request for Information (RFI), Project, Resource & Estimates planning documents as per business need. You will spearhead the execution of R&D projects as needed.
  • Build long-term relationships. You will grow your understanding of our clients and their needs through genuine curiosity and posing profound questions. You will act with care and enthusiasm to design solutions that exceed their expectations.
  • Collaborate. You will manage client communications and work with the internal teams to assist with estimation, build the pipelines, provide information to support proposals, quotes, estimates, and budgets.
  • Technical expertise. You will lead technology strategy conversations with teams and clients. You will define Architecture design and blueprints for digital applications. You will rapidly prototype solutions to showcase the organization\'s progressive thinking.
  • People leadership. You will oversee and guide the work on active projects to help unblock the teams and lead their efforts to ensure successful completion of client deliverables. You will mentor and coach staff in best practices and overall career path.
What You\'ll Need to Be Successful:
  • The Agile leadership approach. You have the insights and instincts to hire, mentor, and manage next-generation leaders in the software engineering department. You have expertly led software engineering and mobile application teams to successfully meet client deliverables and exceed expectations. You have guided the work of junior team members and can help build their skills and understanding of enterprise-level quality code and instill an understanding of the Agile Scrum methodology.
  • The client management. You can foster positive, trusting relationships with partners, gaining trust, influencing decision-makers, navigating conflict, and negotiating deliverables and timelines. You have an exceptional ability to draw on your in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of client business needs to effectively address, mitigate, and resolve issues. You can creatively solve problems, adapting solutions in anticipation of or in response to evolving business needs.
  • The technical experience. You have end to end expertise in designing and developing responsive, scalable, performant and secure digital applications and services; from eliciting requirements to translating business goals into detailed technical designs and architecture. You thrive in an Agile Scrum environment, with experience applying Lean principles and best practices in CI/CD. You have expertise in React/ReactNative/Flutter and one or more industry-standard programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, Node, etc. and an understanding of Cloud Native architecture and data engineering.
