Location: Work is what you do, not where you go. For this role, we are open to remote work and can hire anywhere in Canada and the United States.

About the opportunity

The Director of Software Development is responsible for all aspects of developing and maintaining multiple, technologically advanced Dayforce security solutions. The Director of Software Development oversees the activities of multiple development managers and technical teams, and has overall responsibility for planning, staffing, budgeting and delivery of identity access management, authentication, authorization, and other security features.

In this leadership role, the Director works with Product Management, Product Development, IT, Hosting, Support, Marketing, Sales and Implementation. This role requires focus and precision on the details of product requirements and design, while establishing a strong vision of how the products will be used and consumed in the marketplace. In addition, the development director works closely with support, after product delivery, to ensure that the products developed are successful with our customers.

  • Build and maintain an effective network of peers, colleagues, and stakeholders within the company to help influence direction, gather feedback, achieve your team's goals, and remove roadblocks.
  • Manage, coach and mentor managers and other software development professionals, including performance reviews, salary administration, and career development.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, CyberSecurity, and other Product Development partners to deliver innovative features and solutions that make our clients' work lives better.
  • Ensure that the teams that roll up to you are well managed and
  • Are delivering solutions that meet business needs,
  • producing high quality code and products,
  • reporting accurately and in a timely manner on their status and delivery,
  • are high-performing, self-organizing teams,
  • have high engagement and morale, and low regrettable turnover.
  • Support R&D processes and quality initiatives and drive adoption within your teams.
  • Plan and execute on hiring for your organization.
  • Influence and support the investigation and adoption of new and emerging software delivery practices and technologies.
  • Manage your team's spend on travel, rewards and recognition activities, etc.
  • Provide input into budget and forecasting plans.

Skills and experience we value
  • 10+ years of software product development experience with 7+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with security technologies, identity and access management, including hands-on experience with leading IAM solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective networks and leverage them appropriately.
  • Demonstrable career progression from hands-on technologist to leader.
  • Experienced in recruiting, building and managing high performing teams.
  • Extensive hands on experience with agile/scrum principles and development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate people and activities across multiple functional areas
  • Actively coach and mentor members of the team.
  • Must be team player and able to thrive within a large global organization.
  • Solid business acumen, management and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker, able to bring innovative solutions to critical business problems.
  • Forward thinking: Continually striving to improve the tools, technologies and approaches we use.
