In alignment with their guiding principles and commitment to significantly expand the forward thinking and innovative work they do with Indigenous peoples, communities and businesses, they\'re looking for a Director, Indigenous Business Development to lead their national Indigenous growth strategy and significantly expand upon the success of the existing Indigenous business ventures that they are proud to be partners of.

Our client recognizes the invaluable insights and perspectives of Indigenous peoples, and the opportunity to mutually prosper in partnership and provide significant socio-economic and capacity building opportunities for indigenous peoples. Active and successful partnerships span across Canada in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia with plans to increase overall economic value and business by 30% annually in each of the next three years.

This role will be based in western or central Canada with the requirement to travel across Canada frequently.

What You\'ll Do:

As our Director of Indigenous Business Development, you will lead in (1) developing the strategy in identifying new and innovative opportunities as they relate to Indigenous communities and businesses; (2) working with the team in the pursuit of those opportunities; (3) serving as the crucial bridge between existing and prospective clients and new Indigenous business relationships that you will develop; (4) qualifying leads and prospects that come to a mutually beneficial agreement to achieve the economic objectives outlined by the company and necessary to achieve the goals in its annual and strategic plans. Your role will ensure that new relationships and their projects are conducted with the utmost respect for Indigenous rights, knowledge, customs and values.

Your duties will include:

  • Be the driving force in identifying and securing new business relationships and related project opportunities across Canada
  • Serve as the primary contact between the company and Indigenous business leaders in developing each relationship and overseeing all related business matters while maintaining the company\'s mission, vision and values
  • Engage with Indigenous businesses and communities to identify opportunities for partnership and business development
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate Indigenous knowledge and perspectives into our projects
  • Develop strategies to identify and develop the most appropriate business relationships required including long term Partnerships, joint ventures and any other economic reconciliation opportunities, and community engagement initiatives
  • Monitor and advise on all regulatory, business and industry best practices related to Indigenous relations
  • Advocate for greater Indigenous inclusion and benefits with key customers and projects
What You Bring:
  • Significant experience in new business development planning and large project management in a related industry
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A keen understanding of emerging environmental industry trends
  • Proven ability to develop and execute on strategy
  • Great understanding of Key account management techniques
  • Financial and business management acumen
  • Direct Indigenous community engagement and development experience, Indigenous relations heritage, is a major asset
  • Degree/Post-Secondary education in Business, Communications/Marketing, Engineering and/or Project Management preferred
  • Familiarity with environmental remediation and civil construction practices
  • Ability to travel extensively as required within Canada - a must

  • Member of an Indigenous community with deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols is preferred
  • Strong ability as a proven self-starter with a proactive approach to task completion
  • Proven project management experience in multiple project environments
  • Able to handle competing priorities and shifting deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on precision

What We Offer:
  • Competitive Compensation: Annual base salary between $130,000 - 180,000 based on previous experience and skills with generous variable compensation incentive based on target achievement
