WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME IN THIS ROLE?




As a member of the property Leadership, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead strategic and operational HR initiatives for our property.


Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive HR excellence aligned with Hyatt Regency Toronto's vibrant, people-first approach. This position oversees HR strategy, functions and policies to support business goals; advocates Hyatt's values and our culture of care, inspiring others to embody these principles, thus fostering a productive, engaged and inclusive workforce. The Human Resources function prides itself on excellence, service, integrity and accountability.


The Director of Human Resources is responsible for short- and long-term planning of the HR function. This means leading strategically and tactically in the areas of workforce planning, recruitment and staffing strategies, wage and salary administration, colleague and labour relations fostering a collaborative work environment, benefits and workforce training/ learning and development

Responsibilities




Lead both strategic and tactical HR programming, including workforce planning, recruitment, compensation, benefits, training & development, and colleague relations.


Oversee compliance with Canadian and Ontario employment standards and regulations while developing HR strategies and administering HR policies and procedures.


Compliance and adheres to Hyatt Brand Standards


Serve on the property's leadership team, shaping culture and supporting guest-centric goals.


Develop and implement training/learning and development programs to drive operational excellence


Conduct needs analysis, develop, implement, and monitor training programs and materials.


Champions the communication and proper use of total compensation systems, tools, programs, policies, etc.


Participates in quarterly internal equity analysis; reviews internal equity reports and surface issues needing resolution.


Creates and implement total compensation management, particularly recognition and incentive programs directed towards property priorities.


Provide coaching and guidance to leadership and colleagues on HR matters, compliance, and colleague relations to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures.


Administer HRIS systems and maintain accurate HR records.


Manage onboarding, orientation, performance management, and exit practices.


Develop and monitor HR metrics such as colleague surveys, turnover and colleague engagement.


Plans and coordinates colleague events.


Represent the property in professional HR networks and across Hyatt's HR ecosystem, including working with Corporate HR.

EXPERIENCE



Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality; pre-opening or large-property experience is an asset.


Demonstrates a strong background in Ontario employment law, colleague relations, benefits, wage and salary, colleague training, workplace health and safety, accident prevention, and government regulations and policies as they impact HR.


Hands-on Service oriented style with professional presentations skills.


Proven leadership, communication, and coaching skills with high emotional intelligence.


Clear concise written and verbal communication skills.


Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as comfortable with HR technologies (HRIS) and data-driven decision making.


Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills.


Excellent interpersonal and coaching abilities.


Experience working with Unions and thorough understanding of collective agreements.
