Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer the Director of Human Resources will be instrumental in the planning and implementation of FNUniv's Human Resources strategies, programs and initiatives. The Director will be actively involved with each campus, enhancing policies and practices and will be accountable to carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: management of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, pay and benefits administration, recruitment and selection, orientation, staffing, personnel record maintenance, job classification and compensation, performance management and disciplinary procedures, leave/disability management, employee health and wellness initiatives, and drafting reports. A key element of the position is to have operational involvement in the job duties as listed.



Qualifications:



The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or business admin or related field and/or a Master's in Human Resources. Plus eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience. years related HR Generalist experience as a minimum with hands-on responsibility for the full scope of HR activities, preferably in a Union environment. A professional designation would definitely be an asset.



The following duties are representative, but not limited to, the position:

Responsible for leading and managing the employee full life cycle including all aspects of recruitment, selection, onboarding, orientation, employee development and performance management, job evaluation and offboarding. Provide quality employee relations and exceptional employee customer service to all FNUniv staff and faculty. Prepare for and leads in union-management contract negotiations, grievances and arbitration management; administer the provisions of existing employee contracts and agreements; advising management and union officials on the interpretation and application of the collective agreement. Act as a representative on University/Union Committees. Lead and administer the pay and benefits function, including annual increments, service milestones and administration of the pay and benefits into the University's applicable systems and benefits plans. Acts as the lead liaison between the University and insurance carriers to resolve problems and clarify benefits. Responsible for all Human Resource reporting including annual and sick leave and all applicable monthly Union reporting within specified deadlines. Leads the process to continuously improve and conducts periodic audits of various HR processes including employment policies and the Out of Scope Handbook to ensure adherence to policies and procedures reports findings and makes recommendations for corrective actions as appropriate. Accountable for the maintenance of all necessary files pertaining to Human Resources. Perform miscellaneous projects and job-related duties as assigned on a timely basis with clear communication and within agreed upon deadlines. Leads the day to day operations of the HR department personnel and budget, and coordinate the planning of human resources services for the University.
