Director of Food Services/Dietitian




Hillside Pines is located in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Currently, a 50-person licensed long term facility with exciting plans to build a new facility, increasing to a 96-person licensed facility. Hillside Pines practices the Eden Philosophy of Care and as such, the successful candidate must have commitment and passion for person directed care.


The Director of Food Services is a Registered Dietitian responsible for the management and operation of the Food Services Department. The Director/Dietitian plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of this department to ensure high standards of food service and nutritional care for 50 elders, 30 enriched housing tenants (noon meal), care partners, family, volunteers and meals on wheels clients. The Dietitian is also responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of clinical nutrition care plans at Hillside Pines.


Hours of Work: 56 hours biweekly- negotiable to 64 hours biweekly. Hours worked must be beneficial to the Elders of Hillside Pines and approved by the Administrator.


QUALIFICATIONS

Current registration is in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians (NSCDN)). Bachelor of Science with a Nutrition major and completion of a Certified Dietetic Internship. Progressive thinking and comfortable with change management and quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrated experience and evidence of leadership. Experience in mentoring, coaching and care partner/team development. Extensive experience in a Long-Term Care Environment is a definite asset. Experience in dealing with and advocating for Elders and their families. Ability to deal with stressful situations and maintain objectivity, ongoing interest and participation in updating skills; nutrition, geriatrics, personnel/labour management, etc. Evidence of successfully working with all care partners within the organization as well as outside agencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy for Elders and care partners. Demonstrates commitment to provide quality care for the Elders of Hillside Pines in recognition of the Home's Mission, Vision, Values and the Eden Alternative philosophy of care. Knowledge of the Eden Alternative philosophy of care and willingness to lead by example with this person-centered initiative.
