Position Overview
Lambert Nemec Group is partnering with a respected healthcare organization in its search for a Director of Finance . This is a rare opportunity for a senior finance professional to step into a key leadership position within a purpose-driven organization that provides essential community services. The Director of Finance will act as a strategic business partner to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board, while also leading all aspects of financial operations, reporting, and strategic planning in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
This role plays a pivotal part in guiding organizational performance and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of a community-based care organization undergoing significant modernization and cultural transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational financial leadership to support the CEO, Board of Directors, and Senior Leadership Team.
Oversee all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit activities for the organization.
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Direct and mentor a small finance team while managing relationships with shared service providers for accounts payable, payroll, and related functions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, and funding requirements in alignment with public sector reporting standards.
Lead and participate in the development of business cases, proposals, and funding submissions to government and other funding bodies.
Support the Board Finance Committee and contribute to organizational governance through regular reporting, forecasting, and risk analysis.
Drive process improvements, efficiencies, and digital transformation initiatives in finance and business operations.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO on financial strategy, operational planning, and resource allocation.
Requirements
Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; a postgraduate credential in management or public administration is an asset.
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive financial management experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments such as, education, or the broader public sector.
Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, audits, compliance, and investment management.
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Experience working with ERP or enterprise financial systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage collaboratively across disciplines.
