Cariboo-Chilcotin School District serves approximately 4600 students across 22 schools across a large geographic area on the traditional and unceded territories of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot'in, and Dakelh First Nations. We serve the communities of 100 Mile House, Williams Lake, Dog Creek, Likely, Big Lake, Horsefly, Nemiah Valley, Alexis Creek, Tatla Lake and Anahim Lake.

The Position:
The Director of Finance reports to the Secretary-Treasurer and oversees the district's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, and reporting, ensuring alignment with Board of Education plans. This role provides strategic financial leadership, manages audits and government reporting, and supports accurate funding through student enrolment projections.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the district's annual budgeting process, ensuring accuracy, compliance and alignment with strategic goals.
Analyze departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and provide recommendations for effective resource allocation.
Oversee financial reporting, including annual statements, quarterly government submissions and audit coordination.
Manage cash, treasury, and capital asset accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP, PSAB, and internal policies.
Supervise contract management, charitable organization accounting, and ERP system security. management, investment activities, and treasury services.
Provide leadership and oversight to Payroll operations, ensuring compliance with policy, legislation, and collective agreements.
Direct and support Finance and Payroll teams, fostering accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking a strategic and principled financial leader with exceptional analytical skills and extensive experience in budget development, financial reporting, and fiscal management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, integrity, and strong communication skills, providing effective leadership that aligns financial planning and resource allocation with the district's goals and priorities.
Required Education and Experience:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or equivalent designation preferred with five years progressive experience in financial reporting and accounting.
A minimum of two years of successful supervisory experience, preferably within a unionized environment.
Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, and accounting in a complex organization or public sector environment.
Proven leadership of finance or payroll teams, with strong knowledge of GAAP/PSAB and ERP systems.
Compensation:
The compensation package will be commensurate will the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The salary range for the position is $130,343 to $144,825 and a competitive benefits package and paid time off. Further details will be provided through the recruitment and selection process.
