Position Summary
The Director of Finance is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, systems, and stewardship of RCAS and its partner societies. This includes leading financial planning, analysis, and reporting; managing budgets across multiple divisions; and ensuring alignment with board directives, regulatory compliance, and the mission of RCAS and its partner societies. The Director of Finance plays a key role in enabling sustainable growth, strengthening internal controls, and guiding executive decision-making.
Partner with the COO to develop and execute multi-year financial strategies
Provide financial leadership for long-term planning, capital expenditures, and debt management
Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities; deliver actionable insights to executive and board
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process across all schools, online programs, daycare operations and partner societies
Manage regular forecasts, variance reports, and scenario planning for multiple funding models
Train and support leaders in budget management and financial literacy
3. Financial Reporting & Compliance
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting
Ensure compliance with CRA, BC Societies Act, funder agreements, and accounting standards (ASPE/NPO)
Prepare materials for annual audit and act as primary liaison with auditors
4. Operational Finance
Manage cash flow planning, tuition and funding analysis, and internal cost recoveries
Lead review and optimization of vendor contracts, payroll systems, and procurement policies
Oversee accounting functions, reconciliations, and internal controls
5. Board & Stakeholder Relations
Prepare financial reports and analysis for RCAS and its partner societies Board of Directors and Finance Committee
Support reporting obligations to government agencies, funders, and partner organizations
Translate complex financial data into clear, mission-aligned insights
Qualifications & Experience
CPA designation required (CA, CGA, CMA)
7+ years senior financial leadership experience (preferably in nonprofit, education, or multi-entity orgs)
Deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting (ASPE or ASNPO), budgeting, and reporting
Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets with complex funding structures
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills
Demonstrated alignment with the mission and values of RCAS

Compensation
