We are currently seeking a motivated and qualified individual to fill the role of Director of Finance position within our organization.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance is a hands-on, participative member of the executive team that leads and develops the unit responsible for the financial activities within the organization.
This position will direct a variety of accounting and financial services in support of the LAB, RC and FNs. It will also manage, account for, and report on all funding received and expended by the LAB, RC and where appropriate, by FNs receiving funding from the RC
The following is an overview of the key responsibilities for this position but may not be all-inclusive.
Lead annual budgeting and financial planning process for the organization in conjunction with the executive team; administer and review organizational financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes.
Prepare annual and quarterly financial statements and reports for the LAB, RC and FNs where applicable.
Facilitate the preparation and negotiation of the Comprehensive Funding Arrangement (CFA) with Canada.
Facilitate the annual independent audit of the CFA expenditures and liaise with the independent auditors.
Facilitate the filing of annual tax returns on behalf of the organization.
Lead internal reviews of accounting practices, financial controls, and contract compliance.
Recommend and develop financial and accounting policies and processes necessary for the LAB, RC, and FNs to comply with the annual CFA with Canada.
Assist the LAB and RC in negotiating five-year First Nation funding authority renewals
Direct the accounts payable activities for the organization.
Manage the organizations bank accounts and credit cards, overseeing monthly reconciliation of accounts.
Facilitate Finance Committee meetings by preparing briefing material in advance, establishing the communication format, recording meeting minutes etc.
Liaise regularly with banking institutions associated with the LAB and RC.
Work closely with the Executive Director in preparing briefings for the LAB, Finance Committee and Canada on matters affecting the implementation of the FA.
Establish and maintain a regular positive working relationships with counterparts at Indigenous Affairs Canada to facilitate regular ongoing financial management.
Ensures that the organization's incorporation remains in good standing in accordance with the requirements outlined by Corporations Canada.
Works with the Comptroller of the First Nations' Land Governance Registry (FNLGR) to ensure facilitate the flow of funding between the two organizations, ensures that reports on FNLGR funding remain in good standing in accordance with the RC's funding arrangement.
Any other finance related duties requested by the Executive Director.
Any other related workload in keeping with the LAB, RC and FNs' responsibilities in implementing the FA.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for the position identified above, or for inclusion in the pool, please demonstrate how you meet the following essential criteria:
Post-secondary education in a related field.
CPA certification or eligibility for certification.
Minimum 10 years' experience working with First Nations.
Minimum 10 years' experience managing financial activities in a non-profit organization is preferred.
Minimum 10 years' experience managing staff.
A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Familiarity of the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management.
