JOB OVERVIEW The Director of Culinary Services manages all aspects of culinary service within the community to consistently deliver an exceptional dining experience to our residents and guests. The incumbent is a culinary professional committed to delivering Living Spring\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x9cbest in class\xe2\x80\x9d culinary strategy, offering outstanding service and creative, diverse and flexible menus made with high quality fresh ingredients and appetizingly presented to meet and exceed resident expectations. The incumbent ensures high levels of resident satisfaction specific to Culinary Services (as measured by Resident Satisfaction Surveys and day to day engagement with the residents during meal service). He or she also ensures Food Safety Standards are met or exceeded (as measured by Food Safety Audit). Delivering a consistent, branded culinary experience (as measured by the Brand Standards Audit) and managing culinary, labour expenses, and leading kitchen and dining staff is a must. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in collaboration with the Executive Director to implement the culinary strategic plan in order to achieve high levels of resident satisfaction.
  • Implement Spring Living\xe2\x80\x99s seasonal menus to use culinary creativity and knowledge of resident preferences gather from Resident Food Council Committee meetings to enhance menus, maintaining food quality in compliance with regulations, company policies and culinary standards.

  • Support daily culinary operations with a hands-on approach to leadership, mentoring and filling is as require during meal service times actively in the kitchen and dining room as required.
  • Provide culinary expertise, training and operational support to the culinary team to ensure Residents receive high quality food and services in compliance with culinary standards and company policies.
  • Oversee and direct daily operations and provide culinary expertise, training, and operational support to the kitchen and dining staff to ensure the provision of high-quality food services in compliance with culinary standards and company policies.
  • Provide guidance, consultation and support to site level Executive Directors for the effective development of culinary service employees to ensure high employee engagement.
  • Effectively manage food budget by supporting full compliance with Spring Living approved vendors and standardized product, ensuring effective inventory controls, and minimizing food waste/spoilage.
  • Manage and minimize labour costs through effective scheduling and labour plans.
  • Exceed operations standards in - food quality, service presentation, and health and safety compliance.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective partnerships with site level management and the National Support Team to support operational goals and occupancy targets.
  • Uphold and promote the organization\xe2\x80\x99s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Spring Living\xe2\x80\x99s Code of Conduct.
  • Inspect all work areas and essential equipment as part of ongoing safety and fire protection program to ensure safety standards are maintained, clean and sanitary and equipment is in safe working order
  • Know how to use and monitor specialized building automation systems, fire safety equipment, call boxes, emergency shut offs etc.
  • Establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for required equipment
  • Promote culture and practices involved in line with environmental sustainability
  • Maintain the facilities and ground in \xe2\x80\x9cshowcase\xe2\x80\x9d condition at all times
  • Select, train, develop, engage and manage performance of all Environmental and Housekeeping staff (where applicable)
  • Manage department budget and support the community capital budget process
  • Contribute as part of the residence leadership team to maximize resident satisfaction
  • Manage the room refresh process to achieve maximum cost effectiveness and contribute to the achievement of occupancy targets
  • Manage external vendor contracts with respect to service and cost

  • Complete all other tasks as assigned
Complete all other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Minimum (2) year community college Food Services Supervisor course or equivalent
Valid Food Safety/Food Handler\xe2\x80\x99s Certification
Red Seal designation or equivalent considered an asset
Smart Serve Certification
Knowledge of applicable government regulations and requirements
Previous experience working in a unionized environment
Strong computer skills
Strong leadership skills with experience managing, training, coaching and evaluating a team
Ability to analyze challenging situations and develop effective solutions through interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent time management and decision-making capabilities with minimal supervision
Retirement industry experience is considered an asset Knowledge and experience in aspects of housekeeping, laundry and maintenance preferred Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS). 2 COVID-19 Vaccinations with proof Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Benefits:
