In the Policy and Corporate Services Division at DPW, we are responsible for supporting the entire department of Public Works and it\xe2\x80\x99s Crown Agencies, as well as initiatives that impact road safety and the economic well being of the transportation industry, and the shippers who rely on it, both within the province and between the province and its various national and international markets.We\xe2\x80\x99re seeking an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is keen to contribute innovative ideas.About Our OpportunityReporting to the Executive Director of Policy and Corporate Services, the Director of Corporate Services will lead the design and implementation of corporate requirements for key support services for the Department of Public Works.As the Director of Corporate Services, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading departmental initiatives to support strategic alignment and enhance efficiency across divisions.
  • Leading departmental business administration including corporate planning, accountability, and reporting processes.
  • Oversight of information assets and records management.
As the Director, you will work with Senior Management, other government departments, and external clients to identify needs and ensure projects and initiatives are completed on time and within budget.Primary AccountabilitiesYour key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading the business planning and mandate reviews for both the Department and the Agencies and ensuring all corporate accountability and reporting requirements are met.
  • Developing departmental policy and processes to ensure strategic planning aligns with the goals and priorities of government.
  • Leading through a collaborative approach the design and delivery of a variety of corporate strategies and initiatives which support the mandate of the Department.
  • Directing the development and approval of the Department\xe2\x80\x99s responses to FOIPOP requests, central government business continuity processes and reports required by Executive Council, Finance and Treasury Board, the Auditor General\xe2\x80\x99s Office, and other central agencies.
  • Leading internal communications, planning, and engagement initiatives to ensure the Departmental workforce support and development goals are achieved. Also the leading the departments United Way campaign and long service awards.
About YouThis may be the right opportunity for you if you have, at minimum, a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, or a professional designation a related discipline. This role requires extensive experience as a leader and a manager of people and projects. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.As a successful Director of Corporate Services, you will have proven experience in corporate and project planning in a government environment, as well as exceptional client service skills. You are an innovative and positive leader who possesses highly developed communication skills, knowledge of human resources and financial systems, and has strong problem-solving abilities.You are well organized and capable of prioritizing and delegating high volumes of work under tight timelines, as well as exercising sound judgement under pressure.A broad understanding of corporate and government issues and priorities, as well as demonstratable records, information, access and privacy knowledge are considered assets.The Government of Nova Scotia has adopted the LEADS Leadership Framework.
