Individual responsibilities


Reporting to the Director of Operational Efficiency and Sustainable Development of Cascades Récupération+ (CR+), the Director of Circular Economy Development is responsible for protecting Cascades' interests and coordinating Cascades' long-term needs and requirements in relation to the implementation of new curbside recycling and deposit management programs in Quebec by maintaining a strong presence in discussion forums and close business relationships with key stakeholders. The designated person is also responsible for informing and guiding Cascades on the developments surrounding the deployment of its new programs as well as on the initiatives and actions that will have to be taken to ensure the sustainability of our sources of supply in addition to developing local sources of supply (Quebec, Ontario and North-Eastern United States) of recycled PET through the development of a true circular economy, in collaboration with the Packaging and CR+ groups. This position also has a functional link with the V-P Operations of Cascades Specialty Products Group for plastic circularity. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Act as an expert for Extended Producer Responsibility programs and their short term impacts (Quebec and Ontario);
  • Develop your business network with the key people responsible for the new designated collection and deposit organizations and all other stakeholders directly involved;
  • Define with GPS and CR+ management, Cascades' action priorities surrounding these files;
  • Understand and correctly measure Cascades' interests in accessing these residual materials;
  • Map the production, collection, recovery and recycling of plastics (mainly PET) in Quebec and Ontario;
  • Represent Cascades on relevant committees related to the implementation of the circular economy in Quebec.

As Director of Circular Economy Development, you will be able to showcase your qualities and skills. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, environment or other training deemed relevant;
  • 5 years of experience in sustainable development and/or circular economy;
  • Be perfectly bilingual;
  • Master the concepts of circular economy, recovery and recycling of residual materials;
  • Be available for frequent travel in Quebec and sometimes in the rest of Canada and the United States;
  • Excellent communication skills, good listening and analytical skills;
  • Have a collaborative approach, be able to establish and maintain a relationship of trust with partners;
  • Demonstrate leadership and influencing skills.
