MAKING AN IMPACT





Reporting to the Executive Director, Leadership Giving - BC, the Director, Leadership Giving, (Prairies) will build the capacity for donor relationship management of the Canadian Cancer Society in the Prairies (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba). In collaboration with other members of the Leadership Giving Team, this role supports the growth of the Prairies' fundraising portfolio and the operational excellence of the major gift program, including personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors and raising $1M-$2M annually, with a pipeline of $3M-$5M.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

:





Manages a portfolio of major gifts prospects (individuals) and personally conducts cultivation visits, solicitation calls, and stewardship activities to meet revenue budgets. Identify and cultivate new prospects in the Prairies community Identify and recruit senior leadership volunteers Works closely with members of the CCS ELT in securing and stewarding leadership gifts. Works with major gift support roles including researchers and writers as required. Develops and maintains a qualified top prospect list and facilitates the continued identification and assignment of individual giving prospects. Helps build the Major Gifts program by implementing the processes, systems, tools and communications required to effectively identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors within the Prairies portfolio. Provides mentorship and support to senior leadership volunteers supporting major gift program development. Works closely with the Nationwide Leadership Giving team. Regularly tracks and analyzes key activity metrics against benchmarks. Collaborates with and supports senior level staff and volunteers with high level major gifts prospects. Creates a collegial working environment with key internal departments: Donor Services, Information Systems Management, Supporter Engagement, Planned Giving, Marketing, Communications and Digital, Events and Finance. Supports the development of the budget of the Major Gifts Department at the regional level and influences growth of the budgets at the community level. Creates a positive work environment which attracts and retains high calibre talents. Recruits and retains qualified staff to meet resourcing needs. Supports the team in achieving their commitments and departmental objectives. Identifies developmental needs and implements tactics to reduce the gaps identified. Works in compliance with the provisions of Occupational Health & Safety in AB and complies with the Society's Health & Safety Policy. Foster a high-performance culture that leverages the unique talents and strengths of each member while encouraging their growth and development. Champion CCS as a hero in the face of cancer. QUALIFICATIONS:



Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of ten years of progressive major gift fundraising experience is preferred. Proven track record of identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, securing and renewing large individual major gifts with senior level volunteers and staff. Deeply connected in the Prairies philanthropic community Successful experience in training and coaching staff in relationship fundraising. Demonstrated relational and leadership skills necessary to engage internal stakeholders to help foster a culture of major gifts philanthropy. Strong relationship management skills. Interacts comfortably and successfully with a variety of stakeholders (staff, volunteers, donors, general public), alone and in a group. Developed communication and presentation skills, polished, professional and demonstrates a high degree of integrity and discretion. Proficient with MS Office and experience using donor database management tools such as Raiser's Edge or Salesforce. CFRE designation is an asset. English is required, French/Bilingualism (French /English) is an asset due to the organization's nationwide operations Must have access to a vehicle as travel is required. Others may apply
