If so, consider joining WorkSafeBC as the Director, Internal Audit.Playing a pivotal role, the Director, Internal Audit provides leadership and direction to a team of professionals to strengthen WorkSafeBCxe2x80x99s ability to create, protect, and sustain value by providing the Finance and Audit Committee and management with independent, risk-based, and objective assurance, advice, and insight. The Director, Internal Audit is independent of WorkSafeBC operations.This position will functionally report to the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, and administratively to the Head of Executive Operations.   • Provide strategic oversight and management of the Internal Audit department to ensure the effective delivery of internal audit services.
  • Cultivate strong communication and collaborative relationships with the Finance and Audit Committee, the President and CEO, and members of the Enterprise Leadership Team to deliver assurance, advice, and insights on governance, risk, and internal controls.
  • Offer objective assurance and expert advice to managers and staff on governance, risk management, and internal controls to support the achievement of organizational goals.
  • Develop the department's strategic plan, including establishing key performance indicators.
  • Deliver assurance to the Finance and Audit Committee of the Board of Directors by evaluating governance, risk management, and control processes. This includes providing an annual assessment of internal controls and highlighting significant risks.
  • Assign and manage audit projects carried out by internal auditors to ensure quality and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and organizational security while staying informed on emerging risks and industry trends.
  • Ensures departmental adherence to the Institute of Internal Auditorsxe2x80x99 International Professional Practices Framework, which includes the Global Internal Audit Standards and topical requirements.

Your background and experience
  • A bachelorxe2x80x99s degree and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or a combination of relevant experience with the designation of either Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
  • 10 years of extensive experience in the internal auditing profession, including significant experience in a management capacity.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing internal audit teams, including developing and executing audit strategies and plans.
  • Extensive experience assessing and advising on governance structures, risk management frameworks, and internal control processes within complex organizations.
  • Strong track record of building collaborative relationships with senior executives, board committees, and organizational leaders, providing clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans for an internal audit function, including defining departmental performance metrics and reporting outcomes to senior leadership or governance committees.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks and their implications on organizational governance and audit activities.
