Job Purpose

Reporting to the VP, Information Technology Services (ITS), the Director of Information Technology is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the existing technology across the Corporation including business applications, websites, operational technology, and employee devices. Incumbent will be running and staffing day-to-day IT operations and will meet agreed-on delivery of IT services to support the current business model. Activities focused on IT operations will also be involved in supporting and guiding the analysis of requirements, planning and design, as well as managing large-vendor relationships. They often directly lead efforts in business process optimization, and focus on IT service catalogs, and managing IT finance and HR functions.


Job Responsibilities

Provide leadership in implementing and sustaining technology infrastructure, client support and application maintenance. Align technology choices with business objectives, making informed decisions about programming languages, frameworks, databases, and tools that foster scalability, security, and efficiency. Define and communicate the overarching technology strategy, aligning it with MBLL's goals and objectives. Collaborate closely with executive leadership to identify ITS budgetary and human resourcing needs. Establish precise performance indicators, employing data-driven metrics to gauge and optimize the effectiveness of strategic IT initiatives. Commit to setting goals, achieving quality results, and creating a work environment focused on accountability, responsibility, and action. Develop business cases and cost/benefit analysis for IT spending and initiatives. Manage the overall portfolio of work performed and make decisions regarding the prioritization of projects and ongoing activities. Lead the planning, development, and implementation of section policies and procedures, and ensure that they are adhered to within and outside the department. Manage and facilitate the resolution of issues which cross units within ITS or involve other MBLL departments. Direct the analysis, design, and delivery of services provided to operationalize the strategic plan. Ensure defined and agreed service level agreements. Minimize disruption during upgrade processes through effective planning and communication. IT operations will also be involved in supporting and guiding the analysis of requirements, planning and design, as well as managing large-vendor relationships. Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of potential issues. Implement processes to address and rectify any non-compliance issues. Work with the Security team to ensure that all existing, new, and revised systems comply with security policies, and with legislative and regulatory requirements regarding data protection and privacy. Work with the Disaster Recovery team to ensure adequate processes are in place for technology recovery planning and testing, as well as timely execution in the event of an incident. Oversee the development and implementation of strategies to continually enhance technology systems' efficiency and effectiveness. Make informed decisions about technology selection, ensuring that chosen technologies align with MBLL's business objectives and technology roadmap. Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate various systems seamlessly and effectively, fostering a cohesive and integrated technology environment. Participate in and provide input into ITS's overall annual budget development process. Review proposed budgets from unit managers and develop into a section budget to be included in the ITS annual budget development process. Review component budgets of the section with managers on a regular basis to ensure expenditures are on track. Approve expenditure requests within level of financial authority. Work with other Directors and the VP, Information Technology Services regarding overall ITS budgetary/financial issues. Determine the need for reallocation of financial resources between units of the section and make recommendations to the VP, Information Technology Services regarding same. Lead by example in fostering an environment that involves all team members in the development of cost effective and efficient practices Other related duties as assigned.

Primary Qualifications

Extensive experience in an Information Technology department, IT project management, IT operations, or IT business operations with a minimum of 12 years Information Technology related experience. The last 4 years should be in a management position. Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience in a related field. Experience with ITSM frameworks, such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), can help in optimizing IT service delivery and incident management. Strong knowledge of project delivery methodologies, best practices, and operational procedures. Experience in human resource management and talent development. Solid understanding of IT asset and software licensing management throughout the asset lifecycle. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures aligned with organizational standards and regulations. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and supervise a team effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders. Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities. Knowledge of risk management and business continuity planning. The core competencies for this position include achieving quality results, adaptability/managing change, communication, customer service, decision making and problem solving, integrity and building trust, teamwork and cooperation and valuing diversity. Leadership competencies include building strategic performance, coaching and developing, influencing and leading. These competencies are deemed important for the success of the position and organization.

Secondary Qualifications


----------------------------


Experience in, or knowledge of, gaming, retail, wholesaling, or construction industries is an asset.

Vacation



Accrue up to 10 paid vacation days per year during the first 2 years of employment. Accrue 15 paid vacation days per year after 3 years of employment.
