You will make a mark designing and implementing a talent management framework that prioritizes EDI, a learning and development program that shares knowledge and embeds EDI and core values into the thinking and functioning of managers and teams, and a total rewards package that ensures employees are appreciated and committed. You will work alongside passionate team members, committed leadership, and bright, talented individuals, providing direct support and programming to meet employee needs at a grassroots organization where every day is focused on making a difference to clients.How you and your team will make an impact:

  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing the Human Resources and IDEA strategy. You will coach and train a team of human resources professionals, serve as the influential voice for HR strategies and initiatives, and collaborate at the organizational level to determine priorities. You will establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of service delivery of all HR functions and programming to ensure the highest service levels.
  • Support the design, development and delivery of leading-edge talent management solutions. You will spearhead initiatives that include assessment and development, employee engagement and retention, performance management and total rewards. You will conduct interviews as required and assist managers in making hiring decisions, ensuring smooth onboarding processes to integrate new employees into the organization seamlessly.
  • Create and promote a culture of accountability. You will lead initiatives prioritizing organization-wide inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility to enhance and promote the organization as an employer of choice.
  • Update and implement policies. You will provide advice and interpretation on statutory obligations, human resources policies, collective agreements, and employment and labour relations developments to leadership and team.
  • Manage employee and labour relations strategies. You will provide comprehensive training to managers and directors on employee and labour relations, offer support and coaching to management, conduct workplace investigations, handle grievances, arbitrations, and mediations, and participate in discipline and performance management meetings. You will build and maintain appropriate, constructive working relationships with union leadership to ensure a positive labour relations environment, oversee the collective bargaining process and participate in Labour management committee(s).
  • Oversee the implementation of equitable total rewards programs. You will lead the development of a total rewards program, ensuring it is competitive, reflects internal talent objectives and market conditions, supports recruitment and retention strategies, and is cost-effective.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices. You will provide leadership to maintain organizational health and safety policies, programs, and initiatives that reduce risk, safeguard worker safety, follow legislative requirements.
  • Manage assigned financial resources and budgets. You will manage negotiations and guide the administration of HR Services such as benefits, pension plans, Group RRSP, Long Term and Short-Term Disability, including reviewing cost effectiveness, seeking alternatives, and negotiating plan improvements and modifications where necessary.
What you bring:
  • The experience. You have broad expertise in Human Resources, Talent Management, and IDEA initiatives in a unionized environment and, ideally in a not-for-profit. You have experience designing, developing, and rolling out critical HR initiatives and a track record of providing HR advice and solutions to leaders and individuals on employee and organizational issues.
  • The knowledge. You demonstrate an understanding of HR and EDI practices in Canada and understand relevant legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance requirements, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code and Pay Equity Act. You have expertise in operations, employee engagement, performance management, change management, career development, compensation, employment law, and other compliance matters. You are proficient with MS Office Suite and an HRIS such as Dayforce.
  • The people leadership. You nurture trust with those who report to you and lead by example. You have experience guiding the work of a team, and providing direct coaching and mentorship. You can foster respect and positivity within and across teams. You are compassionate and empathetic, and you can deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
  • The collaboration skills. You are a relationship builder who is self-aware, with strong verbal, written, and presentation abilities. You can gain trust, influence decisions, implement processes, and foster an inclusive culture. You have the people and conflict management skills to overcome challenging issues through to closure and help managers build high-performing teams. You have a genuine appreciation for diverse opinions and experiences and strive to change the status quo for the better with every initiative you take, seeking input from those around you.
  • The analytical mindset. You have solid decision-making abilities, with the ability to research and analyze data, leverage available resources, and present solutions. You have excellent judgment and can make thoughtful decisions as a creative problem solver.
  • The drive. You are passionate about nurturing a positive, diverse, inclusive people culture and tying initiatives, events, and strategies to the organization\xe2\x80\x99s core values. You are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, big or small. You can work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
What you can expect from the interview process * A 30-minute virtual interview with a Talent Advisor to discuss your interest in the role and to learn more about the organization.
  • A 60-minute in-person interview with the Hiring Manager and a Senior team member to discuss how your experience and skills match the organization\xe2\x80\x99s needs. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the role, team, mission and values.
  • A final 30-minute interview with the CEO to ask further questions about the mission, vision and strategic plan.
